Republic Act No. 6585

An Act establishing a School of Arts and Trades in the Municipality of Prosperidad, Province of Agusan del Sur, to be known as the Agusan del Sur School of Arts and Trades, and authorizing the appropriation of funds therefor.

Under TESDA (Republic Act 7796), ASSAT was reclassified as a TESDA Technology Institution, shifting its mandate from secondary vocational education to competency-based, industry-driven TVET.

Founding of ASSAT
Established through Republic Act 6585, ASSAT opened as a secondary vocational school in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur — offering general education with practical arts in the first two years and vocational curriculum in the third and fourth years.

The enactment of the Technical Education and Skills Development Act transformed ASSAT into a TESDA Technology Institution. A new competency-based curriculum replaced the 2-year and 3-year courses, shifting focus to skills certification and employment bridging.

Expansion & Industry Linkage
ASSAT evolved into a three-pronged institution: training, job bridging, and employment marketing. Partnership with LGUs, NGOs, and industry allowed ASSAT graduates to be placed in domestic and overseas jobs. UTPRAS registration expanded the portfolio of accredited programs.

Community Response & Entrepreneurship
Following Typhoon Pablo, ASSAT trainers led Cash for Training (C4T) programs in Veruela, Trento, Prosperidad, and Bunawan — training over 195 entrepreneurs from affected communities in livelihood skills.

ASSAT joyfully celebrated 50 years of serving Agusan del Sur. With a proud history of diploma graduates, community outreach, MOA partnerships, and NSTP programs, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to empowering future generations of skilled Filipino workers.
